A Camden Icon: The Underworld If you're looking for the true heartbeat of London’s alternative scene, The Underworld in Camden is an absolute pilgrimage. Nestled right beneath the World's End pub, this legendary basement venue offers an intimate, high-energy atmosphere that you simply won't find anywhere else in the city. There is something undeniably electric about descending those stairs into a dark, cavernous space where the history of rock, metal, and punk feels etched into the walls. Despite its grit, the sound quality is consistently impressive, and the sightlines are fantastic—you’re never more than a few feet away from your favorite artists. The staff are seasoned pros who handle the rowdiest crowds with a smile, and the bar service is surprisingly quick for such a popular spot. Whether you're there for a sold-out international act or a local rising star, the sense of community is palpable. It’s sweaty, it’s loud, and it’s pure rock 'n' roll magic. For anyone who loves live music with an edge, The Underworld remains the gold standard of London nightlife!

Great venue for smaller and more intimate gigs - in this case, the awesome Karen Dio. The low ceilings and shape of room work well, and the acoustics are phenomenal for punk with the right balance of intimacy and space. The only shame is the number of pillars which can block views unless you arrive early

I visited the Underworld to see a Japanese rock artist. The venue was incredible. Clean, easy to navigate and the staff were all so friendly. I very much appreciated Leo the security guard helping me with seating as I have a disability. He was very friendly, and was asking questions about the act too as he hadn't heard of her before and enjoyed the music. Genuinely lovely guy. The venue itself is only 500 capacity but for an intimate show was perfect. Everyone had a great view of the stage and the layout was very guest friendly, with no obstruction to the stage from anywhere in the venue. The toilets were clean and well maintained and were accessible for me with my walking stick. All in all, a genuinely great place to visit, to watch a rock show and I would 100% come back here for another show.

A fantastic club and live music venue. This is an iconic independent venue that hosts a range of events. It is easy to get into the venue and the atmosphere inside is great.

Great rock club. The bar staff was quick and friendly. They had Underworld swag for sale, which was great, because it is a unique spot, especially with The World's End pub right above it. The best part was that the music was loud, but not TOO loud. I've been to some shows where the music is so loud my ears are ringing the next day. Not the case here. The only negative thing I would say about The Underworld is that there are giant columns in the middle of the floor area. If you're standing near the back, they definitely obscure the view of the band. Luckily. I was able to find a spot between the columns where I could see everything and still avoid the mosh pit (I'm way too old for that crap). Even with the columns, it's a great place to catch a show. I would definitely recommend it.
